Thank you to UIACAt a May Day celebration organized by the University of Iowa Antiwar Committee, funds were raised to support health care locally as well as internationally. Donations were collected throughout the day and evenly split between Doctors Without Borders and the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic. UI student Lara Elborno headed up fundraising efforts and spoke at the event, describing the health care crisis in war zones.
100 Eyeglasses for 2007Because of your generous donations, The Free Medical Clinic is able to provide eyeglasses at no charge to over 100 people. These donations, in partnership with a program funded by the Host Noon Lions Club and through the cooperation of several local optical stores, provide vouchers to pay for a complete pair of eyeglasses (new frames and lenses) to clients who otherwise would not be able to afford new glasses. |
